Sally Port (SAL lee Port) An opening in the fort's walls that is used to enter and leave. It was often sloped downward toward the outside of the fort. Fort Adams has three sally ports, on the North, East, and South Curtains.
The long West Curtain faces the Bay and does not have an entry way. Instead, it contained a two-tier casemate filled with cannon.
