9-10th   Civil War Living History Weekend

Soldiers in authentic Civil War uniforms of both the Union and Confederate armies will re-live camp life. The schedule is filled with artillery and troop drills, medical demonstrations, camp life, a 19th century religious service and battles.  Open 10AM- 5PM both days.  Admission $10 per adult, $5 per child 6-18.

OCTOBER 2006
27-31   FORTRESS of NIGHTMARES

The Fort Adams Trust announces the Fortress of Nightmares on Halloween weekend.  On the nights of October 27-31, starting at 7:00pm, historic Fort Adams will unleash the restless spirits of its past on special haunted tours.  Guides will lead the way through spooky areas of the Fort not usually seen on regular tours, and you will hear the eerie, bizarre, and macabre tales of the Fort’s long history and legend from the resident “spirits” themselves!  Meet the laborers who built the Fort…the soldiers and families who lived there…learn the secrets hidden within the Fort’s ancient walls.  Unlike many haunted attractions that rely on startling the audience, these scares are based upon the legends and folklore that surround Fort Adams and in the creepy atmosphere of Fort Adams in the dark.

Admission is $10 per person; $1 discount with Haunted Newport RIP Pass OR Fort Adams ticket stub.  Ticket sales begin at 6:30pm and end at 9pm each evening.  Sturdy footwear required.  Fortress of Nightmares is not recommended for children under 12.

Call 841-0707 to find out about volunteer opportunities.

DECEMBER 2006
