Historic Fort Adams, Newport’s Premier Waterfront Venue, is available from mid-May through October for wedding receptions & ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, brunches, corporate events & outings, social events and public events including concerts and reenactments. Fort Adams offers several locations to accommodate 20 – 600+ guests. The North Lawn, outside the walls of the Fort, is the site of the Newport Folk and JVC Jazz Festivals and provides magnificent panoramic views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Harbor. The Parade Field, a 6 Ľ acre field inside the walls of the Fort is surrounded by unique and interesting 19th century architecture. The North Casemates, an interior space located within the walls of the Fort, is comprised of three vaulted chambers with arched, brick ceilings and granite walls. The Naval War College Museum Exhibit “Defenses of Narragansett Bay” is available for viewing. A Standing Guide can be scheduled. All events must respect the historic nature and dignity of the Fort.
Rentals are based upon a 4-hour time period with additional time
available for an added fee.
Site Rentals Include Catering, rental services, photographer, entertainment and other services are the responsibility of the Licensee. Please refer to our list of Preferred Vendors. Access to event location for vendor set-up is no more than three (3) hours prior to the start of the event. Up to one and one-half (1.5) hours are allowed for clean-up and break-down. Access to the event location for tent installation is no more than one (1) day prior to the event date, based upon availability. Alcohol service must end one-half (1/2) hour prior to the end of the event. The serving of alcohol beverages is limited to a maximum of four and one-half (4.5) consecutive hours. Alcoholic beverages must be served by an establishment that possesses a valid Class P Liquor Catering License and the appropriate insurance coverage. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure a date. The rental balance and a $500 refundable damage deposit are due no later than sixty (60) days prior to the event date. The damage deposit is refundable if no damage has occurred or if the event is cancelled.
Additional Fees The Chief of the Newport Fire Department will make the final determination regarding the number of Firefighters required and number of hours each will be assigned. Environmental Police Officer/s will be assigned based upon the nature of the event and the number of guests at the rate of ≈$50 per hour [2009 rate] per Officer for a minimum of 4 hours.
